The ferry was delayed by 4 hours today meaning I had some time to wander around again on Tiree.  I had heard about the Mary Stuart, a boat that used to supply coal and other goods to Tiree.  Just the bare bones of this old wooden boat now project from the sands at the northern end of Scarinish Harbour. The ‘Mary Stuart’ was laid up at Scarinish Harbour c. 1938, and “allowed to go to pieces”. The harbor is also where the Tiree Sea Tours are docked. Sadly, my trip with this tour group to Skerryvore was never able to happen due to rough seas.  

I  had not wandered around this area of Scairnish before so it was a god thing that I was forced to spend more time in the town or I would have missed a very interesting spot.  I grabbed a few more photos of houses and the area before departing on the ferry which held me captive for four hours until we reached Oban. It was then another hour and a half in driving rain to my destination in Tarbert.
