We carried a generator and extra gas with us as there have been blackouts in the country and a scarcity of gas. We traveled the main highway in the country and stopped for gas which was a blessing since many stations were without supplies. Miles and miles of sugar cane farms rolled passed us as we drove through the area around Matanzas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We arrived in Trinidad around 2 PM and immediately sat down to a magnificent lunch. One thing I can say for Cuba is that the food is extraordinary. I can only wonder how the restaurants are able to get the food necessary to fill their menus since many people are struggling to get food even with the ration system. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our accommodations in Trinidad were in private casa particulars with the group split up between three houses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In late afternoon we went out to photograph in the city of cobblestone streets and brightly colored houses. Trinidad was declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1988. It was the third villa founded by the Spanish crown in Cuba by Diego Velazquez in 1514. A walk through the streets lets you feel the authentic Cuban spirit with less crowded streets and colonial architecture. The main square was a great place to photograph the life of the city with horse drawn carriages and street musicians all adding to its charm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure
