Just Wandering

This was a bit of a lazy, just wandering kind of day. Bucking a stiff wind, I headed back over to the golf course and tried to find the path to St. Columba’s beach.  Although I did not make it the entire way I did learn that I was on the right path and will make another attempt to go in the next couple of days. By wandering up to the back part of the golf course I was rewarded with some spectacular views from a completely different angle than where I photographed yesterday.  These ancient rocks – some of the oldest on the planet – are intimidating and I can only wonder what the early travelers must have thought when they circumvented islands like Iona many centuries ago and saw these formidable formations.  There is only one road leading to the beach and golf course and no way to easily go over the hills and try to make a complete circle from the village. The hills are steep and boggy and no markers telling you which way to go. The hills are best left to the sheep!
