The last day on Islay – this is a place where I truly feel at home so it is bittersweet to have to leave. This is also the end of the last trip before the book goes to the publisher so in a sense it is an end of the first phase of the project.
It was a foggy and rainy day so I ventured back to Finlaggan to meet up with Mairead and take her picture with her book – the book that started me on this journey! I also took the opportunity to photograph Finlaggan in a not so grand environment. After a nice cappuccino and chat with Maired I headed back to my cottage to pack up. I was stopped on the road back and had to back into a driveway because they were moving sheep along the road! So very Islay! Just a perfect end to the day and my photographing on Islay.
Tomorrow it’s off to the mainland via the ferry to Kennacraig and then a four and a half hour drive to Inverness. Hopefully it will be better weather and there may even be an opportunity to photograph along the way.
