Lords of the Isles Footsteps 2024

After postponing the trip because of a broken leg I am off on the next leg of the journey in the Footsteps of the Lords.   The next phase of photographing for the book will be this April when the journey will take us to Eigg, Colonsay and Oronsay, Isle of Arran, Campbeltown, Islay and Jura. These are all territories once ruled by the Lords of the Isles.  We will journey by car and hopefully not get terribly lost!  We will also visit Dunfermline where Robert the Bruce is buried. Our aim is to picture ruins of significant sites but to also show what this kingdom looks like today.  It is hard to imagine this vast territory being ruled by the Lordship given its expanse.  Territory was added and subtracted throughout the era as alliances were made or broken.
