Part Two of the Journey begins

I close my eyes and I see the dramatic cliffs along the sea and my mind begins to wander once again to the Lords of the Isles and my quest to follow in their footsteps. Scotland beckons once again and this week begins a new adventure scouting out yet more territory that once was part of a vast kingdom in the Western Highlands. Our travels this time will take us back to Oban, then on a chartered boat from Mallaig to Eigg, a drive to Glencoe, a ferry to Colonsay and Oronsay and eventually we will wind our way south in search of more historic sites.  On our agenda is Skipness Castle, Castle Sween and Saddell Abbey and the village of Tarbert.  From there we ferry from Kennacraig around the Sound of Islay to reach Port Ellen and settle in for 5 days on Islay exploring Finlaggan, hiring a boat to take us to Texa and for photos of Dunnyvaig castle from the water at sunrise, all the while capturing the life of the island as it is today. There will be many stories to tell and much more to learn about our Lords of the Isles.  We are blending history with travel and hope you will come along on our expedition.
